About Open Source
Open Source collects products and businesses whose code is published for others to read, run, change or contribute to. Each profile records the basics a database reader wants: what the product does, who founded it, what stage it has reached, where it is based and how the team earns money from code that anyone can download.
Use the filters to narrow the table by subcategory and other facets. Listings appear newest first by default; switch to community votes to see what visitors rate highest. Votes can never be bought. Every listing has a single main category, chosen at submission and included free, so a product sits here only when open code is its defining trait. Compare licence terms, hosting options and the commercial model before you commit to anything.

Open Source: questions answered
- What belongs in the Open Source category?
- Products and businesses where the source code is public and the open nature is central to the offer. That covers finished apps, code libraries, software you host yourself and openly released AI. A closed product with a single open component usually fits better elsewhere.
- How do I choose between the subcategories?
- Pick by how the product reaches its user. Apps are used directly, libraries are built into other software, self-hosted tools run on the buyer's own servers, and open source AI centres on released models and their tooling. If two fit, choose the one a customer would search first.
- How do I list an open source project here?
- Go to /submit and paste the website address. An AI drafts the profile from that site, and you check and edit every field before anything goes live. A paid launch costs $5; a free listing waits in a queue of about 6-8 weeks.
- Can a project appear in more than one category?
- Each listing has a single main category, included free. A paid upgrade adds up to 3 more categories for $5. Use the extras for genuine overlap, such as a self-hosted tool that also ships a developer library.
- How are open source listings ordered, and what should I compare?
- Newest first by default, with an option to sort by community votes, which can never be bought. When comparing, read the licence terms, how recently the project was updated, whether a hosted paid version exists and how the team funds its work.
